A message from Rod for actionable steps this holiday season

A message from Rod for actionable steps this holiday season

Many people asked me about actionable steps for a healthy holiday season after reading yesterdays blog post.  If you are determined to feel, look and act in a way aligned with your best self this season, these are imperative first steps.

Commit – Commit to living out this holiday season differently.  To live differently takes a decisive declaration.  View it as a way to actually give more to the people you love.  Write down your commitment to yourself and the strong “why” behind it.  Remember, you can’t give from an empty vessel.

Schedule your time blocks – It’s your life.  It’s your time.  If you don’t schedule your self-care time, then someone else is going to dictate your schedule to you.  Don’t view it as a zero sum game; that time for healthy endeavors takes away time from other responsibilities.  All the data shows time invested in your health dramatically improves your productivity, creativity and quality of work.

Embrace the stress relief – Exercise is the organic Xanax.  Nothing works to reduce stress, remove negative emotions and promote creative thinking like a good bout of exercise.  Most people rate the holiday season as the most stressful time of the year.  We will get your blood pumping, and move your muscles in way that reduces stress, optimizes your critical thinking and elevates your mood.

Don’t over commit – Contrary to the first step, which is about your own personal goals.  This refers to other people’s requests on your time.  Our practical philosophy for the December session of Live It Group is “Essentialism.”  If you don’t prioritize your life someone else will.  You will be inundated with requests this season.  You likely have some that sound wonderful and stimulate you.  You probably have many that feel like they weigh you down.  You can’t overestimate the unimportance of practically everything.  Essentialism means you are running things through the lens of “What is most vital to me?”  When you do that you will recognize the things you say no to open the door to the things you really want to say YES.

How can I do this?

Commit: Sign up for a December block of Live It Group
Schedule: Look at the LIG schedule.  It accommodates early risers to mid morning to after work schedules. Reserve a spot before they are gone.
Reduce the stress: Every session will optimize your health and create clarity of vision.  You will tackle any challenge in your day and dominate your path.
Tap into what is essential:  Each session reinforces the feeling of what is most important to you and how to focus on the big things, and not get caught up in the minutiae.
